# Radio Syndication Seminar

While numerous non-commercial radios exist, the aim is to combine the old analog practice with digital media. During the seminar radio makers will examine existing usages and technologies, and map out best practice models for the future.

TINDRA - Towards an Internationally Networked Digital Radio Activism

This meeting will take place in a casual but focused atmosphere with nice catering, beamer, limited tech and all that we need for a good discussion. All this in the middle of vienna in early summer.

We will be brutally interested in reaching some practical goals, such as breaking down existing dublin core models to an absolute minimum for a working exchange model; developing im/export scripts in running pseudo-code; presenting and discussing existing systems; getting inspired by the sheer number of different models; setting up long lists of names and places, writing out numbers, dates, and links; and thorougly discussing the limitations and possibilities of open content licenses in the context of non-commerical radio production.

Practically, it means sharing in depth experiences in file-sharing, radio production, open source programming, artistic practise, cultural politics, open archives. Networked radio activists are welcome.

Outside of the digital, it is not yet fully proven that non-commercial models of the organisation of immaterial labour are more effective than commerical counterparts. After the internet hype, there is still a lot of potential in combining it with old media... and new license models. The side effect could be yet another mailinglist which would have the chance to become an international platform for organising program exchange between non-commerical radio stations in Europe and elsewhere.

Goals

Common metadata exchange standard:
Including import/export exchange mechanisms of binary data (ogg/mp3, xml-rpc, ical, OAI, SOMA, OMA, ebu-core,...)

Open radio license:
Combination of compulsory license and creative commons licenses (internet gema, prx.org, cc derivates)

Networked radios:
Social fabric, wiki, mailinglist, funding projects, meetings

Having fun with code!

Participants

The invited participants work with non-commercial radio stations, program exchange platforms for those radio stations, open audio archives, open source, and radio & media activism.
